Global public health leader Dr Sandro Demaio announced as MM2025 keynote speaker
The international expert in environment and health will lead the second MM2025 plenary in Melbourne this November.
Advanced Pharmacy Australia (AdPha) is thrilled to announce Dr Sandro Demaio – renowned public health expert and Director of the WHO Asia-Pacific Centre for Environment and Health (WHO ACE) – as the third and final keynote speaker for Medicines Management 2025 (MM2025) taking place in Melbourne this November.
Dr Demaio joins an already stellar lineup, including Olympian and medical doctor Dr Jana Pittman and leading neuroscientist Professor Joel Pearson, in bringing his signature insights on global health, systems innovation, and environmental challenges to Australia’s largest scientific pharmacy conference.
AdPha President Tom Simpson FANZCAP (Lead&Mgmt), who recently returned from the WHO World Health Assembly, expressed his excitement about the announcement.
‘It was a privilege to meet Sandro last week in Geneva, where we discussed some of the most pressing health challenges facing our world.
‘As a medical doctor and public health advocate, Sandro is a driving force in strengthening health systems worldwide.
‘In his role as WHO ACE Director, he leads efforts across 37 countries to combat the health effects of climate change and environmental degradation.
‘Sandro’s expertise in science, systems thinking, and policy innovation will make an invaluable contribution to MM2025.’
Dr Demaio’s experience spans the frontline and boardroom—bringing together science, strategy, and global collaboration to build healthier, more resilient communities. He also co-hosted the Netflix series Ask the Doctor, broadcast in over 130 countries.
Medicines Management 2025 will be taking place at the Melbourne Conference and Exhibition Centre, 27-29 November 2025 with the theme ‘In motion’. Dr Demaio will present at the second plenary session on Friday 28th November.
