More than 500 of us work in our Pharmacy Team, providing Clinical, Operational and Quality pharmacy services to patients in our hospitals and community settings. We are a diverse group of professionals, focused on achieving the best outcomes and experiences for our community. Our 400+ pharmacists and 120+ support staff work across seven sites in 30 clinical and 10 Operational Teams.

Intern program information
13 Intern positions are available in 2026 (11 Government plus 2 hospital-funded)
The Monash Health Pharmacy Department provides a structured intern training program which includes experience in a variety of pharmacy practice areas and learning objectives and assessments for each rotation.
Campuses at which intern pharmacists will work:
- Monash Medical Centre
- Dandenong Hospital
- Moorabbin Hospital
- Casey Hospital
- Kingston Centre
- Monash Children’s Hospital
- Victorian Heart Hospital
Intern pharmacists are required to undertake the Monash University Intern Training Program. Enrolment in the Monash University Intern Foundation Program (IFP) is highly recommended to enable intern pharmacists to complete a university higher qualification by the conclusion of their intern training year. These programs recognise the high quality workplace learning offered by Monash Health.
The program:
Rotations through a variety of pharmacy practice areas and also weekend work
- Clinical rotations for 31 weeks of the 48 week training program: general medicine, surgical, cardiology, rehabilitation and movement disorders, paediatrics, mental health, emergency medicine, oncology and an elective of the intern’s choice
- Experiential training in Quality Use of Medicines or Formulary & Business Development, Medicines Information, Dispensary, Compounding and Medication Review services.
- Complete an individual project in a dedicated rotation
- 4 weeks of annual leave
Education:
- Weekly tutorials covering a wide range of topics aimed to develop clinical skills and knowledge, as well as preparation for exams. Clinical specialty tutorials are delivered by pharmacists working in the area.
- Opportunity to create and deliver several presentations over the year, including a continuing education session to the Pharmacy Department.
Support:
- Well supported at Monash Health by clinical supervisors during rotations and our dedicated clinical educators.
- Each intern pharmacist is paired up with a mentor pharmacist to assist in professional development.
- Regular individual catch-ups with the intern coordinator are scheduled to discuss both internship training, academic study progress and wellbeing.
