Albury Wodonga Health (AWH) offers a dynamic and diverse internship experience across its two campuses—Albury Hospital and Wodonga Hospital—serving a regional population of over 250,000. As Australia’s first cross-border public health service, AWH delivers care in partnership with both NSW and Victorian governments, operating 337 hospital beds and employing over 3,300 staff.

Intern program information

Interns gain broad exposure to a wide range of clinical specialties including medicine, surgery, emergency, mental health, oncology, critical care, rehabilitation, paediatrics, obstetrics, special care nursery, and more. Rotations occur every 2–3 months and are supported by structured weekly education sessions.

Each intern is paired with a dedicated preceptor and supported by a collaborative team of over 40 pharmacists and 15 technicians. We offer 2 DHHS-funded intern positions annually and actively support both the Monash Intern Foundation Program (IFP/ITP) and PSA Intern Training Program, providing a comprehensive foundation for professional development and early career success.

Interns will also have the advantage of interactions with other interns and preceptors from health services in the Northeastern Victorian region, including Benalla, Echuca, Shepparton, and Wangaratta.  Across the year interns will present cases and discuss with their fellow interns and pharmacists in the region, as well as participate in oral practice exams with a range of different pharmacists outside of their own hospital who can offer their unique hospital experiences.

This program is ideal for motivated, self-directed individuals with a passion for regional healthcare and a desire to contribute meaningfully within a multidisciplinary team.
