Strong abstracts signal countdown to MM2022

The Society of Hospital Pharmacists of Australia (SHPA) has formally finalised the rigorous abstract review process for Medicines Management 2022, the 46th SHPA National Conference (MM2022) with one month of Early Bird registration remaining as momentum builds toward the return of the marquee face-to-face event.

The extended program over three days at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre, 1-3 December, will boast a fourth plenary and additional keynote speaker, 50% more opportunities for oral and poster presentations and extra celebrations, amid scientific sessions focused on reconnecting with patients, peers and networks.

SHPA Chief Executive Kristin Michaels says after a challenging few years it will be inspiring to share the breadth of work that has continued behind the COVID-19 headlines, at Australia’s largest annual scientific pharmacy conference.

‘Our members and their interdisciplinary peers have been instrumental in Australia’s pandemic response and, as we emerge from this year’s winter wave of transmissions and hospitalisations, there is a palpable sense of momentum to put diverse pharmacy practice priorities back at the centre of clinical conversations.

‘We’re thrilled that more than 550 abstracts have made the grade for MM2022 this December.

‘Early registrations have been strong, a powerful signal from the profession that leading pharmacists and technicians from all areas of practice, allied health care professionals and supporters are eager to gather and shape the future of medicines management and patient care, in a truly electric atmosphere.’

The MM2022 Abstract Webinar Series, facilitated by SHPA’s Research Leadership Committee, has been curated to help delegates optimise their conference contributions, from delivering a high-impact live presentation to maximising the momentum of work after the conference concludes.

Ms Michaels says the extended program has been curated to maximise reconnection, rejuvenation and inspiration.

‘Three years since we last gathered in person on this scale, there is a real sense of energy to rediscover professional friendships and reinvigorate partnerships.

‘Of course, innovative practice is only part of the equation, and booming Brisbane is the perfect setting to recharge the batteries, enjoy unparalleled networking and celebrate at our famous Gala Dinner.’
